Abstract
The study aims to identify the inclusion of science textbooks of the intermediate stage of public safety. To accomplish the study goal، they need tool to accomplish. (the tool of analyzing public safety concept). The researchers prepared a tool to analyze the concept of public safety. It included in its initial form of (145) items. Standard of public safety concepts items distributed on (6) domains: (food safety, traffic safety, home safety, school safety, environmental safety, and health safety). The validity of the analysis tool was verified by several arbitrators and specialists who referred to their remarks for standard items. The number of items of the tool in its final version was (135) items. The analysis reliability was verified based on two ways: the researcher and the method of the external analysts. The values of reliability coefficient using Holisti equation were (0.91 - 0.91- 0.95- 0.97), respectively at the rate of (0.94). The analysis process included science textbooks of intermediate stage based on the analytical tool. The sample included (459) pages of textbooks distributed on first and second intermediate textbooks for the academic year (2019-2020). The researchers adopted the explicit and implicit idea as a unit of analysis and repetition as a unit for counting. The researchers have concluded the following results: (1) All science textbooks did not reach to the criterion percent، where the calculated percent was (17.03%)، which is lower than the criterion one (45%). (2) Poor attention given to the content of all books in which public safety concepts were not included in them.
Main recommendations: (1) Curriculum designers and developers have to include public safety concepts in the content of science books.(2) Create a manual on public safety concepts distributed to different educational institutions at all stages, which sets out the most important procedures to be followed in order to ensure secure educational and scientific environment. The research suggested an analytical study was suggested on the contents of public safety concepts in science books for the primary stage or biology books for the preparatory stage
