Abstract

The concept of Imamate represents one of the most significant theological issues that has generated extensive debate throughout Islamic intellectual history. This study examines the notion of Imamate in the Qur’an by exploring the divine exposition within the Qur’anic text alongside the divergent sectarian interpretations that shaped its meaning. The research aims to analyze Qur’anic verses related to Imamate، highlighting their theological، political، and social dimensions، while conducting a comparative analysis of exegetical positions across different Islamic schools of thought. Using an analytical-comparative methodology، the study reveals points of convergence and divergence، and illustrates how sectarian backgrounds have influenced the understanding of Qur’anic discourse. The findings suggest that the Qur’anic text leaves room for interpretation، allowing the concept of Imamate to extend beyond its literal meaning into broader intellectual and sectarian frameworks within the Islamic tradition.
