Abstract
This research aims to explore the extent to which Arabic language teachers consider the affective aspects of Krathwohl’s taxonomy and its relationship to aesthetic appreciation among their students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers formulated several questions and hypotheses for validation.
The researchers adopted a descriptive analytical method, with a sample comprising 150 female students from the fifth preparatory grade (biological, applied, literary) distributed across four schools (Al-Talae School, Al-Zuhour School, Al-Andalus School, Al-Ma'arifah School) in the left side of Nineveh Province during the academic year 2020-2021.
The researchers developed two tools: the first aimed to measure the extent to which Arabic language teachers consider the affective domains of Krathwohl’s taxonomy from the students' perspective. This tool consisted of 25 items with three alternatives (highly achieved, moderately achieved, minimally achieved). Its face validity was confirmed by presenting it to a group of experts and judges, as well as verifying its psychometric properties (reliability and discrimination).
The second tool was a scale to measure aesthetic appreciation directed at the fifth preparatory students in its three branches, comprising 25 items. Its face validity was also confirmed by experts, and it was tested on a pilot sample of 125 students to ensure its psychometric properties.
The first tool was applied electronically to the main sample on Monday, 14/11/2020, while the second tool was administered in person to the main sample on Sunday, 3/12/2021. The data were collected and analyzed statistically using (t-test for a single sample, ANOVA, and t-test), and the results showed:
- A statistically significant difference between the achieved mean of the affective aspects compared to the hypothetical mean, in favor of the biological branch.
- A statistically significant difference between the achieved mean and the hypothetical mean in aesthetic appreciation, also in favor of the biological branch.
- No statistically significant differences between the achieved means of the affective aspects.
