Abstract

This study examines characters and dialogue in the novel نافذة بسعة الحلم (A Window as Wide as a Dream) by the Iraqi novelist Abdul Khaliq Al-Rikabi, considering them as essential narrative elements in constructing meaning and artistic vision. The research analyzes character types and their narrative functions, and explores the mechanisms of dialogue and its role in deepening psychological and intellectual dimensions, as well as advancing the plot and shaping the novelistic space. The study concludes that the novel relies on the diversity of characters and the intensity of dialogue as artistic tools to express its intellectual vision and to intertwine the personal with the collective and the realistic with the dreamlike, highlighting the distinctiveness of the author’s narrative experience.
