Abstract

The research aims to answer the question that made the Arabic lexicon different from the remaining linguistic levels, such as sound, morphology, and grammar, for which linguists in the past established disciplined rules and principles through which various phenomena could be understood? The Arabic lexicon remained a great place for various vocabulary and uses without which linguists did not notice the laws governing the relations between its various connotations, The research has established a set of concepts that stand behind the development of Arabic dictionaries, which are the educational purpose, the nature of the view of the lexicon, and the duality of word and meaning. The old ones referred to by modern researchers are caused by these vectors, and it is necessary to pay attention to the impact of those vectors and remove them if the Arabic lexicon is to be established on foundations that go beyond those defects while preserving the efforts made by the early pioneers to codify the Arabic language, especially the Arabic lexicon.
