Abstract

This study seeks to understand the "narrative perspective," or the narrator's point of view regarding the characters and events in the novel, through which the story is conveyed to the reader. Undoubtedly, this perspective varies from one novelist to another, depending on the narrator's position and responsibilities. The narrator may assume the authority of an omniscient, dominant narrator, aware of every detail of the narrative, even knowing the characters' thoughts. In this case, the perspective is retrospective, and the narration becomes objective. Alternatively, the narrator may be a character participating in the events, speaking in the first person. This provides a second-person perspective, and the narration is called a participant narrator. This type is prevalent in the novel *The Hollow Land*, where the events are narrated by the protagonist, a participant, using multiple voices—a technique known as polyphony.

This novel is composed of several sections, each narrated by a participant narrator familiar with its events and details.
