Abstract

This research examines the ability of Arab critics to characterize prose texts through titles that indicate the quality of the text, as well as the titles given to the text's author; this reflects Arab intellectual awareness. This modern perspective, based on stylistic distinctions, was not devoid of the insight of the ancient Arabs, for whom the process of differentiation was a fundamental and commendable skill. The receptive mind of the ancients was able to distinguish each writer's unique style. This process stemmed from two essential components: the author and their relationship to their text, and the recipient and their understanding of the text, thus attributing the text to which writer it belonged.Based on the principle of stylistic differences, critics used titles. Therefore, this research revolves around two main axes:The first axis: Titles given to prose texts The second axis: Titles given to the text's author.
