Abstract

portraying them as Hermetic legacies, and even attributes some sermons of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to Hermetic gnosis—despite Imam Ali being regarded as the first founder of Islamic gnosis and the Shi‘a its earliest adherents. The research concludes that al-Jabri approached Shi‘i heritage from an external perspective, influenced by the Orientalist Henry Corbin and his terminology, aiming to undermine the epistemological methods of mystics in interpreting religious texts.

The study adopts a critical analytical methodology.
