Abstract

The images of survival and annihilation in the Qur’anic expression varied remarkably, as these images were embodied in various artistic methods, including graphic images, and others based on the concept of sign and symbol, as well as description. In this research, I intended to divide the concepts of survival and annihilation into types and branches As the concept of survival was divided into two types: temporary survival and permanent survival, and without the slightest doubt, the concept of annihilation was not far from these divisions, as it was divided into types as well: the annihilation of living beings that were represented in the Holy Qur’an by a number of words, including: destruction, death, barrenness, Killing, slaughter, yellowing, and other expressions. As for the other type of annihilation, it was related to cosmic assets represented by the heavens and the earth and the mountains on them, as well as other cosmic features such as stars, planets, the sun, the moon, and others. And all of this came in a pictorial context that possesses the reader’s heart, and fulfills the intended goal with a brief wording, and an intense meaning, that makes the recipient in a state of amazement and submission to what happened previously, and will happen in the future.
