Abstract
The current research aimed to know the level of mental alertness among female students of the Institute of Fine Arts. It also aimed to build an educational program to raise the level of mental alertness and to know the impact of the educational program in raising the level of mental alertness among female students of the Institute of Fine Arts. To achieve the objectives of the research, the following hypotheses were formulated:
1 “There are no statistically significant differences between the scores of the experimental and control groups in developing mental alertness.”
2 “There are no statistically significant differences between the scores of the four areas of mental alertness among members of the experimental group on the pre- and post-tests.”
The research sample consisted of (24) female students from the theater and music departments in the fifth stage, distributed equally among the two departments, and who appeared to have a weakness in the level of mental alertness after applying the mental alertness scale to them. The theater department was chosen randomly to represent the control group, numbering (12) female students. The Music Department included the experimental group, numbering (12) female students, and parity was conducted between the female students of the two groups in a number of variables. An experimental design was used for the control and experimental groups. For the purpose of achieving the research objectives, the researcher adopted the mental alertness scale prepared by (Yassin, 2022), consisting of: Of (45) items with (5) alternatives, the apparent and structural validity and internal consistency were verified, as well as its reliability, which was extracted by re-testing. The results of the study showed a low level of mental alertness among fifth-year female students at the Institute of Fine Arts and the presence of statistically significant differences. Between the two research groups in the degrees of developing mental alertness in favor of the experimental group according to the areas of the scale, and the presence of a statistically significant difference between the pre- and post-tests of the experimental group and in favor of the post-test. This result indicates the effect of the educational program in raising the level of mental alertness among the students of that group. In light of the results The researcher developed some recommendations and suggestions.
