Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the principle of gradualism in education as articulated by Imam Ibn Jamaah and its educational applications. Employing both historical and descriptive methodologies, the study explored various dimensions of gradualism in education. It began with an introduction, problem statement, research questions, objectives, significance, methodology, and scope, followed by a review of previous studies and commentary. The research focused on five main aspects: the life and era of Imam Ibn Jamaah, the features of gradualism in educational content, the characteristics of gradualism in teaching methods, the application of gradualism in discipline and punishment, and the educational applications of gradualism. The findings revealed that Ibn Jamaah’s educational gradualism was evident in content development, teaching methods, assessment, and disciplinary approaches. Educational applications of this principle included addressing individual differences among learners, considering their circumstances, organizing and sequencing learning processes, ensuring the continuity of learning, and implementing practical applications in curricula and schools.
