Keywords:
Dialogue, Saudi poetry, supplication, forms of dialogueAbstract
Dialogue in poetic texts is an active element in creating drama within the poetic text, and it highlights the poet’s ability to shift within the poem.
The research gains its importance in its quest to reveal the forms of dialogue in the poetry of the Saudi poet Mohammed Al-Thubaiti. By answering some questions, such as: To whom does he direct his question? Is it to himself, what is the effect of internal dialogue on the psychological state? The sequence of questions indicates the self’s congestion with puzzling questions panting for a convincing answer. Open-ended questions came as an end in themselves, meaning reassurance for the self and venting for it. The poetry of Mohammed Al-Thubaiti is still a fertile field for researchers, so the poet’s dialogue with himself (supplication) and the poet’s dialogue with the beloved are topics that deserve study and attention.
