Abstract

    The Qur’anic text represents a unique linguistic phenomenon, transcending the movement of time and space, and remaining unaffected by the laws of change imposed by reality across history and place, as we observe in other creative texts such as poetry and prose. Every text belonging to this type of creative production has been subject to the laws of change dictated by the reality in which it was produced.

    The Qur’an, however, has remained constant throughout time and space. As a revelatory text, humankind has sought to engage with it in dialogue, striving to approach its meaning. Out of this pursuit emerged the movement of Qur’anic exegesis, which embodied this desire and approached the text through various methodologies and techniques.

     Among these attempts was the interpretation titled Ālāʾ al-Raḥmān. It may be said that, despite its later appearance, this work did not depart from the traditional framework. It adhered to a method based primarily on explanation (word, structure), while at times resorting to transmitted reports—especially with verses bearing theological implications. It also showed a lack of rational activity in inquiry, steering away from debate and philosophy. Thus, this exegetical effort did not constitute an intellectual shock for the reader; rather, it may be described as simple and confined within the traditional framework.
