The effect of the Penta gram strategy on the achievement of fourth-grade students in science and their academic integration
Abstract
The current research aims to identify the effect of the Penta gran strategy on the achievement of fourth-grade science students and their linguistic integration. The researcher used the experimental design with partial control, with two groups: experimental and control. Al-Sajjad Secondary School for Boys was randomly selected from among the secondary and preparatory schools affiliated with the General Directorate of Education in Al-Qadisiyah. The research sample consisted of (60) students distributed equally between the two groups, with (30) students for the experimental group and (30) students for the control group. The two groups were selected randomly. The two groups were equal in variables (chronological age, intelligence, previous achievement, and academic integration). The scientific material taught to the experimental and control groups was determined by the first three chapters of the mathematics book for the fourth scientific grade((Mathematical season, equations and inequalities, bases and roots). (20) study plans were prepared for the experimental group according to the pentagram strategy and (20) study plans for the control group according to the traditional method. The two research tools were built, namely the achievement test and the academic integration scale. The achievement test was built, which consisted of (30) multiple-choice items, and the psychometric properties of the test were calculated. As for the other tool, which is the academic integration scale, (30) paragraphs were formulated, distributed among the areas of academic integration (cognitive, behavioral, emotional), with (10) paragraphs for each area, and the statistical properties of the scale were verified. After applying the two tools to the two research groups, the results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the students' scores on the achievement test and on the academic integration scale in favor of the experimental group. Acoording of the results, the researcher concluded the effectiveness of the Penta gram strategy in students' achievement and academic integration, and also presented some suggestions and recommendations
