Abstract
The self is considered the basic element of the personality that guides individual behavior and self-monitoring. It is an important personality variable that is affected and affected by the individual’s self-concept, and both of them contribute greatly to form the behavior of the personal that resulting from the individual according to his personality style affected by the concept and quality of his self-monitoring. Susceptibility means the ability to accept to opinions, ideas, and beliefs are without Criticism or scrutiny, especially if it comes from a person with influence or influence, it is a state of negative dependence on another person, so he absorbs his ideas and accepts them without discussion. Frankl interpreted man’s relationship with life and existence in his existential direction. This direction believes that the essence and goal of man’s existence lies in his search for Meaning of life and existence ,and a person achieves this meaning through valuable experiences such as sincere love, achievements and creativity at work, or even through suffering. This direction assist on freedom ,choosing and responsibility, so the person free of choosing his special way and he is responsible on his freedom. Existentialism reject the idea of dependency in making decision , and also reject the individual’s ability to hand over freedom to others, as this dependency and loos of freedom lead to the formation of a feeling of existential emptiness and loss of balance and dependence . Frankl thought this is the main complex problem which the modern person that suffers from it .Adolescence considered the growth stage ,and it is dangerous stage because the person draw his future as he like, moreover the environment has more effected on the person which grow on it. We can identify the problem of this research through identify the relationship between self-monitoring ,susceptibility , and the meaning of life among preparatory school students .The significant of the current research comes from personal watching which considered the important concept of society relationship and also the concept of susceptibility and the meaning of life which deal with group of community which represented by students.
The current research aims at:
1-Self-monitoring of the preparatory students.
2- susceptibility of preparatory students .
3-The meaning of life to the students of preparatory schools.
4- The relationship between the Self-monitoring and susceptibility to temptation the meaning of life in the students of preparatory schools.
5-The extent of contribution of the Self-monitoring and susceptibility to temptation the meaning of life in the students of preparatory schools.
For the purpose of achieving the aims of the current research, the researchers carried out the following procedures:
Building and applying a self- monitoring scale based on the theory of ‘Zimmerman 2000’ and previous relevant literature and scales, where the scale consist of 24 item distributed equally over three areas and they are (prior thinking, control of voluntary and self- reflection) moreover adopting and applying ‘Al-Jubouri 2023’ scale which based on the ’Vandenbos 2015 for the concept of susceptibility to seduction which consists of (25) items divided into two areas and they are :intellectual seduction (13 items), and behavioral seduction (12 items ) and the construction and application of a measurement of the meaning of life which based on the theory of Frankl 1964 which consisted of (30) paragraphs distributed into six areas and they are:
(self-acceptance, relationship with nature, general relationship and intimacy with others, achievement, altruism and self- transcendence, religion and moral commitment, and after ensuring the internal consistency and psychometric properties of the three scales (validity , reliability, discriminatory connotations) they were applied to the sample of the study which consists of(319) male and female ,the students in the preparatory schools of Genera Directorate of education Al –krakh III Baghdad Governorate of the academic year of 2023-2024 are enrolled in this study. After gathering the data the researchers applying appropriate statistical tools which suits the aims of this study, the following results were obtained:
1-There is a statistically significant difference between the average score of the sample and the hypothesized average of the self-monitoring scale. This difference is in favor of the average score of the sample, and this indicates that the members of the research community are characterized by down level of self-monitoring.
2- There is a statistically significant difference between the average score of the sample and the hypothesized average of the luring ability scale .This difference is in favor of the average score of the sample and there is an indication that the members of the research community are characterized by heiy level of susceptibility
3- There is a statistically significant difference between the average score of the sample and the hypothesized average of the Meaning of Life Scale. This difference is in favor of the average score of the sample, and there is an indication that the members of the research community are characterized by a down level of meaning in life.
4-There is a significant and positive correlation between self-monitoring and the meaning of life among the preparatory school students.- There is an inverse significant correlation between the ability to be seduced and the and the meaning of life among the preparatory school students.
5-There is an interaction between the variables of the self-monitoring and the ability to be seduced in predicting the variable of meaning of life among preparatory school students
From the conclusion of the current research , the researchers draw some recommendations.
