Abstract

         Social oppression is a negative phenomenon in societies that suffer from instability, exclusion, and marginalization, and is based on a series of unequal power relations that cause asymmetry between individuals in terms of gender, sect, religion, class, nationalism, political, economic, or even cultural authority. Oppression occurs when one group exercises its coercive power over other groups, which we can sense in Mosul society, which suffered blatant and profound social repercussions that led to a kind of imbalance of social values ​​and the prevalence of a state of chaos and turmoil. The emergence of manifestations of the culture of oppression and the individual’s feeling of isolation, self-reliance, withdrawal and alienation  Therefore, the importance of the study emerged in identifying the social, psychological, cultural, economic and political dimensions of oppression in Mosul society. The study concluded that there is a relationship between oppression as a social culture and instability, social cohesion and harmony.
