Abstract

Metaphor is considered one of the colors of statement that is characterized by a high degree of brilliance in a way that allows the poet, writer, or writer to give free rein to his imagination so that it can soar in wide spaces, employing creativity in correcting pronunciation, improving meaning, and fascination in expression. The transmitted metaphor achieves brevity and is one of the purposes of rhetoric. It helps the speaker to achieve his purpose in praising and criticizing, so truth and metaphor form a wonderful duality in the language based on the root and the branch, and the original is not changed except for a purpose that can only be achieved by the extent of the shift of the word from the zero degree, which represents the basic structure or degree of composition in the text. We concluded that the metaphor in Imam Ali's sermons were used to painstaking exploration, careful induction, and sound, penetrating observation, as we began with the artistic characteristics of metaphor, taking into account the occasion that prevents improvised confusion at times, and controls distorted metaphor at other times. Thus, the shift in the characteristics of metaphor was a cultural and human shift in a climate that is broader in scope and more expressive.
