Abstract

This research deals with the administration of Obasanjo in Nigeria during the period (2000-2007), which is the longest period of civil rule in Nigeria since independence, which prompted the researcher to shed light on the geographical location of Nigeria, the composition of its social population, its political system and its economy, then it touched on governance During the era of Obasanjo and the challenges and crises represented by economic deterioration, and the tensions and religious, ethnic and political conflicts that he faced, then the study moved to the nation-building initiatives and the most important institutions that were established to address financial and administrative corruption. The results of the study, the most prominent achievements of the Obasanjo government was the reform of the Nigerian army by reducing the numerical strength of active military personnel, especially those who participated in the government, establishing a professional and better equipped army and subordinating the armed forces to constitutional and civil authorities.
